Uniting industry leaders, policymakers, academia, and domain experts to foster collaboration and innovation in Intelligent Transportation Systems for driving advancements in safer and sustainable mobility solutions, optimize transportation networks, and reduce logistics costs to forge a path toward India's transformation into a developed nation by 2047
Our Vision
Empowering transportation by driving innovation for a safer, intelligent, affordable, and greener mobility network built on the foundation of advanced technologies and sustainable solutions.
Empowering transportation by driving innovation for a safer, intelligent, affordable, and greener mobility network built on the foundation of advanced technologies and sustainable solutions.
Our Mission
To provide a platform for transport experts, researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers to collaborate and evolve the best policies, standards, and technologies for an efficient transport system in the country. To promote large-scale adoption of ITS solutions and facilitate the highest-quality implementation by bridging gaps in skill, standards, funds, and quality assurance.
Key Target Outcomes
The ITS India Forum is a leading not-for-profit think tank dedicated to advancing Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in India. As a think tank, we are promoting safety, affordability, and inclusivity in transportation in alignment with the Viksit Bharat Vision 2047. The Forum serves as a collaborative platform for industry professionals, government agencies, and academic institutions working together to shape the future of transportation in the country.
Enhance Commuter Safety, Convenience, and Affordability
Aim to reduce road accidents by 50%, road fatalities by 75%, and city congestion time by 50%. Enhancing the usability of sustainable public transport with affordable & seamless last-mile multimodal connectivity to reduce travel time and travel cost per Km from current values to 50% by 2030.
Improve Logistics Competitiveness
Aim to help the Government reduce logistics costs from 14% to 9% of GDP by integrating innovative ITS technologies in logistics transportation.
Making India a global hub of Innovative and Sustainable ITS Technologies
Encouraging research and field trials and developing skills to drive transformation in transportation. Aim to make India a global leader in Innovative and Sustainable ITS Technologies by 2030.
Development of Indian ITS Standards, which should be adopted globally.
Key Action Points
Implementing ITS on Indian Roads
We aim to facilitate the installation of ITS solutions on 5,00,000 Km of all National Highways, State Highways, Major Roads, and essential roads by 2030.
Implementing/Integrating Intelligent Traffic Management Systems in major Indian cities with AI-driven solutions
We aim to facilitate state governments and municipal corporations with a population of more than ten lakhs by integrating ITMS solutions with AI-based solutions to provide data-driven actionable inputs to solve congestion problems. We will assist in enhancing Enforcement with precise e-challenges, photo/video evidence, and integration with other important portals.
Develop Indian ITS Standards for local and global
We aim to facilitate the development of Indian specifications for ITS hardware and software and promote it globally in the next five years.
Human-Centric Road Safety
In the next three years, we aim to implement technology-driven Road Safety 2.0 solutions to improve road safety using AI, IoT, Telematics, and ADAS. To encourage adoption, we will popularise safe driving scores like the CIBIL score to track and monitor real driving behaviour and link them with insurance premiums and other vehicle databases.
Promoting emerging technologies like V2X and connected vehicles
As a think tank, we aim to keep India ahead of the curve in adopting the latest transportation technologies, such as CV2X and other emerging technologies in the transportation sector.
Scaling awareness about ITS
Knowledge dissemination to promote the adoption of ITS by different stakeholders through webinars, seminars, workshops, RTDs, and conferences. We aim to organize the ITS World Congress in India in 2029, the first time in the history of the Congress.
Improving Skill Set in India by Capacity Building
We aim to enhance the skills of at least 10,000 ITS professionals with best practices and create new employment opportunities for 1,00,000 people in the ITS sector in the next five years. We are starting three short-term certificate courses in ITS ranging from 2 to 15 days and an M.Tech/MBA in ITS in collaboration with global universities.
