India Shines at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2024: A Global Debut in Intelligent Transport Systems
April 16–19, 2024 | RAI Amsterdam, Netherlands
India made a powerful and historic entry into the global mobility arena with its first official participation at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2024, the world’s leading trade event for mobility and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS). Led by Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava, President of ITS India Forum, and organized in collaboration with TrafficInfraTech Magazine, the event showcased India’s growing leadership in the ITS domain on an international platform.
This landmark representation highlighted the strength, innovation, and global competitiveness of Indian ITS solutions—underscoring the country’s ability to offer cost-effective, high-quality technologies that align with global standards. The Indian Pavilion, spearheaded by Envoys Electronics Pvt. Ltd., quickly became a hub of attention, symbolizing the nation's technical prowess and innovation in transportation.
Prominent Indian companies that represented the nation included:
Ador Powertron Limited
Utkarsh
Orient Ceratech Limited
Pidilite Industries Limited
Bolten Beads
Winners Labels LLP
They were joined by international technology leaders with strong Indian connections, including Tecsidel ITS, EFKON India, SKIDATA, Arcadia, ORAFOL, 3M, SWARCO, and Asebal (Safety First), further reflecting India’s growing influence in the global ITS industry.
A defining achievement of the event was the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between ITS India Forum and major international ITS organizations, including the ITS World Congress, the ITS European Union, and other global entities. These strategic collaborations aim to foster technology exchange, research cooperation, and policy development, positioning India as a critical player in shaping the future of intelligent mobility.
India, home to the second-largest road network in the world (over 6.5 million kilometers) and the third-largest vehicle manufacturer, adds more than 5 million vehicles annually. This immense scale presents both challenges and opportunities, where the integration of ITS technologies will be vital in ensuring a safe, sustainable, and efficient transport ecosystem.
Reflecting on this achievement, Mr. Akhilesh Srivastava stated, “This participation marks a transformative moment for India. We are no longer just adopters of technology—we are creators and contributors to the global ITS landscape. Our solutions offer scalable, affordable innovation suited to both developing and developed markets.”
India’s impactful presence at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2024 has not only marked a significant milestone in its ITS journey but also opened the door for deeper international partnerships, knowledge exchange, and collaborative innovation.
