The Connected Vehicles Stakeholders Meet held on 29th January 2025 at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi, marked a significant milestone in India’s journey toward smart, sustainable, and connected mobility. Bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and technology innovators, the event showcased the latest advancements in Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) and set the stage for transformative changes in urban and regional transportation.
A major highlight of the meet was the signing of two pivotal Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs). The ITS India Forum entered into a strategic partnership with the 5G Automotive Association (5GAA) to accelerate the commercialization of 5G-enabled connected and autonomous vehicles. This collaboration aims to enhance vehicle-to-everything (CV2X) communication, improve road safety through real-time traffic management, and foster innovation in autonomous and electric mobility technologies.
In a parallel development, ITS India Forum also signed an MoU with Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) to streamline regulatory frameworks for smart mobility startups and attract foreign investments in the autonomous and electric vehicle sectors. This alliance is expected to facilitate seamless integration of emerging technologies like AI, IoT, and big data analytics into urban transport systems, thereby fostering a robust ecosystem for innovation in mobility-as-a-service (MaaS), fleet management, and smart logistics.
The event featured a series of expert panel discussions that delved into the future of autonomous and connected mobility. Industry leaders and policymakers emphasized the role of real-time data analytics in predictive traffic management, the integration of AI and machine learning in self-driving vehicles, and the challenges associated with implementing autonomous vehicle infrastructure in urban environments. Another critical focus was on smart city development, where ITS solutions such as AI-powered sensors, smart tolling, congestion pricing, and sustainable public transport systems were highlighted as key enablers of efficient urban mobility.
A key technology driving this transformation—5G-enabled CV2X communication—was also a focal point. Experts from 5GAA and leading telecom providers presented how 5G networks enable real-time collision avoidance, hazard detection, and enhanced fleet management through seamless communication between vehicles and smart infrastructure.
Adding a practical dimension to the discussions, the meet showcased live demonstrations of groundbreaking innovations. Attendees witnessed autonomous electric shuttles navigating controlled environments, AI-driven traffic control centers optimizing urban traffic flows, and 5G-connected vehicles communicating seamlessly with smart city infrastructure. These demonstrations underscored the tangible progress toward creating safer, smarter, and more sustainable transportation ecosystems.
The event concluded by recognizing visionary leaders and policymakers who have played instrumental roles in advancing connected mobility in India. Their efforts in policy formulation, infrastructure development, and technology adoption were acknowledged as vital to the nation’s progress in this domain.
